Avenga’s Journey Towards Gender Equality and Inclusion in 2023

For Avenga Ukraine, 2023 was a year marked by transformative initiatives and unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment. From aligning with global standards to fostering partnerships and community building, Avenga has not just talked about change — it has actively led the charge.

Championing global equality

At the outset of the year, Avenga made a significant stride by signing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), an initiative championed by the UN Global Compact and UN Women. These principles, aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace and beyond, have become the bedrock of Avenga’s commitment to women’s empowerment. The ensuing action plan, under development, promises educational events and robust support for women’s professional and leadership development.

A safer workplace

The introduction of Avenga’s Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy was a pivotal step reflecting Avenga’s core value of Responsibility. This policy underscores Avenga’s commitment to a workplace culture based on respect, dignity, and equity, striving to ensure a workplace free from harassment and discrimination. Avenga not only talks about responsibility — it acts upon it.

Partnership with Women in Tech Ukraine

Avenga’s collaboration with Women in Tech Ukraine stands as a testament to its commitment to fostering equal opportunities in the tech world. The partnership focuses on creating an inclusive environment, offering equal chances and opportunities for women in technology. Women in Tech Ukraine, an initiative addressing the challenges faced by women in the tech sphere, has found a strong ally in Avenga.

The rise of Avenga Women’s Community

Believing in the power of community and diversity, Avenga launched the Avenga Women’s Community — an inspiring network acknowledging the incredible women within the company. The recent workshop to develop this community received an enthusiastic response, promising a future of shared knowledge, exchanging ideas, and mutual inspiration. Avenga is more than just empowering women; it’s building a supportive community where they can thrive.

Inspiring future female tech leaders in IT

Recognizing the gender imbalance in the fast-growing IT industry, Avenga partnered with the non-profit organization “Women’s Perspectives” to raise awareness and encourage young girls to explore opportunities in IT. Rehina Ornat, Project Manager at Avenga, Yevheniya Ohar-Borys, Salesforce Engineer at Avenga, and Yaryna Yanchynska, Recruiter at Avenga, visited high schools in Lviv, where they conducted a series of sessions with girls from grades 9 to 11. This hands-on approach, featuring Avenga professionals sharing their experiences, aims to inspire the next generation of female tech leaders.

Webinar: Opportunities for self-realization in IT

In partnership with “Women’s Perspectives,” Avenga hosted a webinar, “Opportunities for self-realization: Finding your place in the IT sphere,” aiming to guide women interested in IT careers. The event covered diverse topics, from understanding different IT career options to exploring the unique aspects of the IT sector. Yuliana Koval, a seasoned IT recruiter at Avenga, shared valuable insights, debunked myths, and highlighted opportunities for women in the IT field.

Women in Tech Summit 2023

Avenga concluded the dynamic 2023 year not only as a tech innovator but also as a torchbearer for women’s empowerment. With tangible initiatives, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, Avenga is not just riding the wave of change — it’s shaping it.
